A while ago, I took this crazy notion into my head to do NaNoWriMo. And that's what it was, a crazy notion.

Who was I kidding? I cannot write 50k in a month. I did it back in August, but that was when I had nothing else going on. I'm busy in Novembers. And I'm still typing The Thief Book, which will take me into November. Then, second week of November, I'm in Hell Week for Romeo and Juliet, which I love, though it will probably murder me.

And there is no way in hellogoodbye that I could write 50k in a fortnight. If you can, power to you. You are a god among men. I am no such being.

So, it's official. I'm out. I am not doing NaNoWriMo. I'm going to focus on finishing the typed version of The Thief Book, and then I'll probably jump right into edits on that. So, if I can finish draft 3 of that by the end of November, I'll be as satisfied as if I'd written 50k.

How about you guys? Anyone doing NaNoWriMo?

  1. I'm in for Nano. I've got the absolute busiest month of my year in November, so I don't know if I can hit 50k, but whatever I force out will be more than I would get without Nano.

  2. Sometimes you just know it's not for you. Not this time anyway.

I'm giving it a go because I haven't got anything else on.

Good Luck with the Thief Book!

  3. Megan -- Good luck with NaNo.

Hedgehog -- Thanks. I hope your NaNo is successful.

  4. As you know, I backed out too. November will be busy for me, and I knew there was no way I'd be able to do it. Like you, I'll be happy if I get my rewrites done.

  5. We're with you. OUT on NaNo. We have about 10 chapters left on our WIP and then we'll be all about the edits. Maybe next year...

  6. Susan -- Reasonable goals. That's we way to go. I think we will both be well pleased at the end of the month.

LnL -- Yes, there's always next year. Or, even December. Who says we can only crank it out in November?

Oddly enough, today I met two individuals in person who were planning to do NaNoWriMo. But their friend who wasn't doing it claims they're just crazy. Ah, to each's own.
